Today crop.zone received a 800.000 EUR grant from Rentenbank. The grant was virtually handed over by the Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir.
The grant will be used to accelerate or development in Europe helping farmers to shift away from herbicides like Diquat and Glyphosat
The crop.zone solution is based on a unique hybrid herbicide concept that combines a conductive liquid called Volt.fuel with electro-physical weeding. This technology is an alternative and complementary solution to chemical-based weed control. Application of Volt.fuel allows for optimized, safer electrical energy management as it uses much less power than other electric weeding technologies and raises agronomic efficacy.

The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), in cooperation with Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank, is supporting agricultural start-ups in the early financing phase with a funding programme for young companies in the AgTech and FoodTech sectors. This closes a financing gap. Today, the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, Cem Özdemir, together with Nikola Steinbock, Spokeswoman of Rentenbank’s Board of Managing Directors, handed over the first funding decisions totalling around 2.9 million euros to four companies.
The programme supports start-ups with an innovative idea in the field of agriculture. The money is granted in the early financing phase on the basis of a subordinated loan.
